The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board proposes cutting surge fees for ride-hailing services during peak hours to help reduce travel costs and improve public transportation efficiency.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ( LTFRB ) is considering a plan to reduce surge rates of ride-hailing services by up to 50% during rush hour. This move aims to bring down the flag-down rate for Grab to P65 from the current P80. The LTFRB also opened applications for special permits for Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) firms to ensure adequate public utility vehicles (PUVs) are available during the Christmas rush.
