A low pressure area may develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours

A low pressure area , which has been bringing rains over several areas, is likely to develop into a tropical cyclone , according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on Monday.

In its 10 a.m. tropical cyclone monitoring bulletin, PAGASA said the LPA has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours. If it develops into a tropical cyclone and enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, it will be locally named Domeng, based on PAGASA’s 2026 tropical cyclone names.

Meanwhile, the trough, or extension of the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao and Palawan within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said in its earlier 4 a.m. weather forecast. Similar weather conditions caused by the easterlies are expected over the Bicol Region and Quezon Province. Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
