This heartwarming story follows Karen and Rosar Crisostomo's enduring love story, chronicled through their shared passion for cycling. From their first date to their present-day adventures, bikes have been a constant companion in their lives, symbolizing their commitment to each other and their advocacy for a greener world.
Karen Silva met the love of her life, Rosar Crisostomo (Rocha), in a jeep on a trip from Infanta, Quezon Province to Manila in 1986. They had their first proper date a month later, biking along the coast in Infanta. They fell in love quickly and married two years later. After working in a refugee processing center in Bataan, they moved to Quezon City in 1993. Rosar taught theology at Ateneo and biked to work daily. He often took his sons with him, who were also students at the university.
Rosar's love for cycling continued, joining a group that organized an annual bike ride called the Tour of the Fireflies, advocating for clean air and encouraging more people to bike. Karen and Rosar's cycling journey has taken them on many adventures, from Quezon City to Nasugbu, Batangas, through the Sierra Madre, to the lion's head statue along Kennon Road, and to Sabang beach. The bicycle has served as a symbol of freedom, choice, and shared experiences for them, evolving from a simple mode of transportation to a representation of their love, life, and advocacy
