Chris Connors/Cape Breton PostBADDECK, N.S. — For more than a century, a large granite headstone marked the final resting place of Alexander MacLeod, his wife Sarah and other family members.

Jeffrey Parks, a 27-year-old antique dealer from Middle River, has been visiting what is known locally as Centre Glen Cemetery for the past two years after a friend showed him the long-abandoned burial ground in Upper Baddeck.Since then, he has found several headstones in the water, including four when he was there in mid-January. One was MacLeod’s, which Parks showed the Cape Breton Post during a visit to the site in 2021.
