LOOK: Pinoys in COVID19 quarantine deal with Typhoon Ambo's wrath AmboPH
As the country deals with the ongoing quarantine restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Typhoon Ambo hammered parts of the Philippines with torrential rain and winds of up to 125 km/h.
Mandatory evacuations were made even more complicated in areas prone to flooding and landslides, as quarantine protocols were still in effect to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus. Resources, already spread thin because of the pandemic, presented an additional challenge to some local governments as evacuation centers can only be filled to a fraction of their capacity.
In less affected areas, some services and frontliners carried on with their duties amid the downpour. Ambo, the country’s first typhoon for the year, is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday.
