LONGLEY: Vlad Guerrero Jr. did right by Blue Jays in passing on WBC Via longleysunsport
Remember that earlier in spring training Toronto general manager Ross Atkins used the word “trepidation” to describe the concern management has regarding players headed to the WBC.
First an MRI taken by Guerrero on Friday night revealed no structural damage to the knee meaning that proper care can keep the injury from being an ongoing thing. No doubt selfishly from all involved, the fact that Guerrero won’t risk further aggravation to what at this point is a minor injury is a huge team-first statement.“When things like that occur, you have to move on,” Guerrero said.
“That’s one of the reasons I feel better,” he said. “They all wrote me and said don’t put your head down. They said just concentrate and stay focussed on the team and the season. You have a big season coming up.”
