A sports federation has suggested extending the class time of Physical Education (PE) classes in schools.

According to Mariano Araneta, president of the Philippine Football Federation, time allotted for PE classes has been too limited, and children have been able to have enough physical activities.“Kung . That’s why we’ve been clamoring to Department of Education na i-extend ang time to play outside kasi importante sa bata yun ,” said Araneta.

After the failure of the Young Azkals to secure a podium finish in the Southeast Asian Games, Araneta said the training and exposure of the athletes should be further strengthened. Araneta admitted that football was not that popular in the Philippines, so he said he was seeking the help of DepEd and the Department of the Interior and Local Government to help their organization popularize football by including the sports in local sporting events.
