About 11,000 registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and nurse practitioners who work for health authorities, Emergency Medical Care Inc., continuing care and disability support programs will be immediately eligible for a $10,000 retention bonus.And yet another $10,000 incentive will be paid next year to nurses who commit to staying in the system for another two years.
The province has also put a big chunk of money into increasing access to surgeries amid a backlog that continues since the pandemic lockdown. Thursday’s budget included an additional $46.6 million for more surgeries and increased hours for operating rooms.a legislature health committee heard in December.
