CEBU CITY — Central Luzon long jumper Jyane Kurt Cantor and Central Visayas long-distance runner Asia Paraase posted dominant wins at the official start of the 64th Palarong Pambansa at the Cebu City Sports Center track oval on Thursday.
Cantor posted a new Palaro ng Pambansa long jump elementary boys record as he leaped a distance of 6.14m to seize the gold medal.A converted athlete from triple jump, Cantor topped the previous standard of 6.04m established by Jeremie Tamles of Davao Region in the 2002 Palaro edition in Naga. never expected this ,' said Cantor, a sixth grade student from Caanawan Elementary School in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.Khrispher Kyle Ngirngir of Region 6 finished second to Cantor and claimed the silver medal with a 5.63m leap.Ace Francis Bacongallo of Region 7 covered a distance of 5.59m to settle for the bronze medal.
