From a ballroom to a basketball court? Some hotels are willing to do just that as the PBA draws suitors from all over the country for its potential bubble.
as the league works toward its season resumption.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said a number of local hotels have shown interest in hosting a bubble – a concept the NBA pioneered to successfully restart its delayed season. Although refusing to name the hotels, Marcial said they are located in Quezon City, Pasay City, Makati City, and El Nido, Palawan."For example, they are saying we can turn their ballroom to a court."
Meanwhile, the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, which hosted a couple of elimination round games last season, also reached out to the PBA.Despite drawing the attention of numerous venues for the adoption of a bubble, Marcial said they have to get the go signal from the Inter-Agency Task Force and other government agencies first.
So far, the PBA is still in the early stages of its training restart, with the league seeking IATF approval for its teams to hold scrimmages by the third week of September.
