Former vice president Leni Robredo on Saturday, Feb. 25, enjoined Filipinos to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the 1986 People Power revolt, which she said showed the world that the Philippines is capable of fighting for democracy peacefully.
In a statement posted on her official Twitter page, the former official and 2022 presidential candidate said the 1986 People Power wasn’t about the name or political color.
“Naging tanglaw ang Pilipinas sa iba na magsimula ng kanilang makasaysayang paglaya ,” Robredo added. “Be mindful and know that history will judge us all. One day we will be asked: When thousands were being killed, billions stolen, and tens of thousands arrested – what were you doing?,” Pangilinan, who was Robredo’s running mate in the 2022 national election, wrote on his social media pages.“Magtanong. Maghanap ng mga sagot. Makinig. Matuto. Maging mulat. Kumilos ,” the former senator stressed.
It emphasized how the challenge of fulfilling the promise of the EDSA People Power Revolution is still with all Filipinos.
