THE Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will undertake reforms in compliance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call to reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks and build an inclusive, efficient capital market.

Last Tuesday, the president directed the corporate regulator to streamline its procedures and reduce transaction costs, among others, during a bell-ringing ceremony marking the effectivity of Republic Act 12214 or the Capital Markets Efficiency Promotion Act .

” To improve public service delivery, the SEC has opened a public assistance and complaints desk at its Makati offices to handle walk-in inquiries, feedback and complaints. The service also includes special lanes for senior citizens, pregnant women and persons with disabilities.The SEC will also review and simplify internal processes to ensure requirements are consistent and necessary and redundant steps removed.
