Light at the end of the tunnel
FOR almost eight long years, motorists, commuters, businesses and residents living along Commonwealth Avenue, Regalado Avenue, Quirino Highway and Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City have endured lane closures, traffic disruptions, and air and noise pollution caused by the construction of the Metro Rail Transit 7, a major infrastructure project that broke ground in 2016 — and was supposed to be finished by 2019.
08 percent complete by June 2025, it is still uncertain if the administration can hit the latest target, but when it does, the payback is expected to be substantial. Once operational, the 22.8-kilometer elevated railway with 14 stations is expected to cut travel time for 600,000 passengers daily, decongest major road corridors such as Commonwealth Avenue, and improve mobility across Metro Manila and Bulacan province.
