While his dad resolved to fight the disease with everything he had, Bate-Smith was also determined to fight.
All funds raised go directly to Project Hope to support the new ALS Centre of Hope at the UBC campus, which will combine research and clinical studies in a clinic at UBC. “Throughout his disease progression, he was flying down to San Francisco every two weeks. He wasn’t mobile. It’s exhausting, expensive and scary,” said Bate-Smith, who supported his dad on many of those trips.
