“We both have an idea of what we want the company to be and how we want it to grow. And I think we have always been on the same page with that,” said Drake, who has known Tomiak for almost a decade before officially joining forces with him in 2020. “That’s been really nice.” Sound designer Matt Drake co-founded Vancouver’s post-production company Elemental with colourist Dave Tomiak. The company, which is in Railtown, is unique in that they do both sound and colour correcting under one roof.Youngman says the duo’s outlook lands solidly with her and with others in the filmmaking community who want to tell unique, maybe out-of-the-box stories that don’t tend to attract the interest and wallets of major studios.

To date Elemental’s resume includes the Canadian titles Doug and the Slugs and Me; With Love; and a Major Organ, Revival 69: The Concert that Rocked the World; Satan Wants You; and Bones of Crows.
