Lidia Thorpe has made severe allegations of sexual assault against a fellow Senator in a fiery exchange in Parliament.
Liberal Senator David Van was further prosecuting the government over its handling of Brittany Higgins’ rape allegations on Wednesday when Senator Thorpe interjected.
“I can’t [withdraw], because this person harassed me, sexually assaulted me. And the prime minister had to remove him from his office.The deputy president declared he would refer the matter – Ms Thorpe’s refusal to withdraw an earlier statement – to the Senate President. “I utterly reject that statement, that disgusting statement outright. It is just a lie. And I reject it ... it’s just not true.”
