Julian Leeser claims key provision of constitutional amendment will be ‘rallying point’ for no campaign
“We shouldn’t put a referendum if it is in any danger of failure,” Leeser said in a speech at the National Press Club. “The government should not put the country through this.”

He said the Liberals wanted to see the establishment of a process for local and regional voices, alongside the national voice, and a heavier reliance on parliament legislating aspects of the consultation body instead of enshrining them in the constitution.
