The MP for Don Valley North since 2019 said he is not aware of any investigation into his campaigns and denied having any knowledge that Beijing has tried or offered to give him political aid.

OTTAWA — A Liberal MP from Toronto says he has received “hateful comments” and “death threats” since he was accused in a media report of knowingly receiving help from Beijing as part of the Chinese government’s alleged interference in Canadian democracy.

Dong also said Canada’s spy agency, the Canada Security Intelligence Service , has never contacted him about alleged foreign interference, and he’s never been told of any investigation by that service, the RCMP or Elections Canada. “I know my campaign. I know … the people that work on my campaign. I’ve worked with them for years,” Dong said Tuesday, adding that he can’t defend himself against “unverified” and “anonymous” allegations.
