Female business owners need a functional supply chain, mothers and care workers need medicine and food on time, and everyone needs functional infrastructure and affordable energy. Finally, even if an industry employs primarily men, those men often have wives and households who benefit from their work.
Despite the underlying good intentions of gender equality, the meticulous identity accounting behind the federal budget adds a reputational cost to investing in things that benefit all Canadians.
