MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered local government units (LGUs) to take decisive action against poorly performing water districts and their private partners amid mounting complaints of inadequate water supply affecting over six million consumers nationwide.

However, the President acknowledged persistent issues in water distribution.“Despite these efforts, we continue to receive complaints that water is not even reaching households’ taps. The extent of these complaints now affects more than six million consumers across the country,” he revealed.Marcos said he had reviewed a report on the situation and tasked LGUs with implementing effective measures against non-performing water service providers and their joint venture partners.
