The memo urged LGUs to collaborate with the Philippine National Police to identify and shut down any POGO in their areas.The DILG requires LGUs to submit a 'no POGO certificate' by the end of January. The certification will serve as proof that their areas are POGO-free.On Jan. 8, a raid conducted by the Bureau of Immigration in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque, led to the detention of 400 individuals allegedly involved in online fraud.

BI to Deport 11,254 Foreigners Linked to Pogo OperationsThe Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced on January 3, 2025, its readiness to deport 11,254 foreign nationals involved in Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) operations. BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated that out of 33,863 Pogo employees registered with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), 24,779 downgraded their visas, while 22,609 left the country before the December 31 deadline. Those who failed to downgrade their visas or leave before the deadline, including those who downgraded but remained, will be deported. Commissioner Viado urged Pogo companies to repatriate any remaining workers, warning that failure to comply could result in legal action against the companies for harboring illegal aliens. President Marcos ordered the shutdown of Pogo operations in the Philippines during his third State of the Nation Address on July 22, 2024, citing the industry's contribution to societal problems.
