I am writing to protest your characterization of residents’ responses to UBC’s plans for new neighbourhoods on campus as “anti-growth.” As someone who has lived many years just off or now on campus, I have seen radical changes at the University of B.C. since the 1950s. I welcome sensible development.
We are for sustainable development that builds community, creates affordable housing, including ownership options for UBC faculty and staff and that is environmentally responsible. Luxury condo towers do not fit the bill.Joan Stanley, Vancouver Well, what a surprise! A quiet, flowery neighbourhood has been turned into urban construction hell! Now I know to fight the Broadway to UBC SkyTrain line or all of scenic Point Grey will go the same way.
