Letran Lady Knights dominate LPU to win their third consecutive NCAA Season 100 women's beach volleyball championship.
Letran successfully defended their NCAA Season 100 women's beach volleyball title with a hard-fought victory over Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) on Sunday in Subic, Zambales. The Lady Knights, led by Gia Maquilang and Lara Mae Silva, secured their third consecutive championship and fourth overall with a score of 21-10, 16-21, 15-13.
Letran joins the ranks of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA and San Sebastian College-Recoletos as the only three schools to achieve a three-peat in the tournament. The match was a thrilling back-and-forth contest. Letran started strong, winning the first set 21-10. However, LPU bounced back in the second set, taking it 21-16 and evening the score. The final set saw Letran regain their composure, opening with a 6-1 lead. Maquilang's powerful attack extended their advantage to 9-5. LPU fought back, closing the gap to 13-14. Maquilang delivered the decisive blow with a powerful spike, securing the championship for Letran. In the bronze medal match, San Beda University defeated Emilio Aguinaldo College 21-17, 12-21, 15-10. The Lady Red Spikers had previously lost to LPU in the semifinals.
