Further airline services have been cut to central Australia Iin Alan Joyce's final act as outgoing Qantas chief. The move is prompting the Northern Territory tourism minister, Nicole Manison to welcome Joyce's retirement.

Ms Manison said temporary schedule changes would impact flights between Alice Springs and Darwin while the Top End runway upgrades were completed.

"'I'm glad to say that our territory aviation attraction scheme has piqued a great deal of interest," she said.
