Residents of Buenavista, Marinduque captured a large python, approximately nine feet long and weighing 30 kilos, after it was discovered to be responsible for the disappearance of several animals including pigs and goats. The python had consumed a 25-kilo pig. It is now under the care of the Provincial Veterinary Office and will be released back into a suitable habitat. Authorities advise the public not to kill pythons but to report sightings to proper authorities.
Isang malaking sawa ang nakita at nahuli ng mga residente sa Buenavista, Marinduque . Nang mahatak ito palabas sa kaniyang lungga, kapansin-pansin ang malaki nitong tiyan.
Ano kaya ang laman nito? Alamin. Ayon sa ulat ni Kuya Kim Atienza sa GMA News “24 Oras” nitong Miyerkules, inakala umano ng mga residente noong una na may nagnanakaw sa kanilang lugar matapos mawala ang ilan nilang alaga gaya ng mga baboy, kambing, at iba pang hayop.
Noong Sabado, natuklasan ng mga residente ang salarin sa pagkawala ng kanilang mga alagang hayop na nagtatago sa isang butas sa lupa-- isang malaking sawa na may haba na halos siyam na talampakan. Agad nagsagawa ng rescue operation ang provincial veterinarian na si Dr. JM Victoria, at kaniyang grupo para ligtas na makuha ang sawa.
“Nung puntahan namin ay pinagkakaguluhan na ng mga tao. Medyo stressed na ‘yung sawa. Meron kasing nagtangka na hulihin ‘yung sawa eh hindi naman tama ‘yung kanilang handling,” aniya. Ayon kay Victoria, may bigat na halos 30 kilo ang sawa.
Kung bakit malaki ang tiyan ng dambuhalang ahas, kinain umano nito ang isang baboy na nasa 25 kilo.
"Iyong sawa ay nasa pangangalaga ng Provincial Veterinary Office. Inilagay namin ito sa isang temporary cage. Nakatakda itong ibalik sa kaniyang likas na pamayanan na malayo sa komunidad ng tao," sabi ni Victoria. Pinayuhan din ni Victoria ang publiko na huwag patayin ang mga sawa kung makakasalubong ang mga ito.
Sa halip ay makipag-ugnayan sa mga kinauukulang awtoridad para mahuli.
"Pagka-nakakita sila ng ganitong uri ng hayop, huwag nila itong papatayin. May mahalaga itong ginagampanan sa ating ecosystem. I-report nila kaagad ito sa para sa proper handling," saad niya. Ayon pa kay Kuya Kim, karaniwang matatagpuan ang reticulated python sa Pilipinas, Indonesia, at Malaysia.
Madalas silang naninirahan sa kagubatan, ilog, at minsan ay malapit sa mga komunidad. Hindi umano makamandag ang mga sawa at pinapatay nila ang kanilang biktima sa pamamagitan ng paglingkis o constriction. Kilala rin sila na kumakain ng malalaking hayop dahil sa nababanat na bahagi sa pagitan ng kanilang bibig, partikular ang ibabang panga.
"Pati 'yung panga nila sa ibaba ay hindi sila connected, so kaya pa nilang buksan nang mas malawak ito," paliwanag ni Kyle Tamayo, isang herpetologist. "Nakakatulong na rin 'yung kanilang elastic skin. Kaya nilang mag-expand nang mas malaki pa sa katawan nila. Minsan five times the size," dagdag ng eksperto. —FRJ GMA News
