The Bureau of Meteorology said large hail was observed near Toowoomba and storm warnings extend from the Wide Bay and Burnett including Gayndah and Eidsvold, the Lockyer Valley, Gympie and through to Brisbane City.
The Bureau of Meteorology said severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Brisbane CBD, Strathpine, Redcliffe, northern Bribie Island, the area north-east of Kingaroy, the area north-west of Toowoomba and Murwillumbah in northern New South Wales.
BOM said large hailstones have been observed near Toowoomba. Hail up to 3 centimetres was reported at Highfields and 5cm at Kingsthorpe.Loading Twitter contentAbout 54 millimetres of rain was recorded at Mount Tamborine around 2pm.
