Santa Rosa City in this province has been placed under a state of calamity after it recorded 15 cases of pertussis.

Earlier, the city government declared an outbreak after cases of pertussis were recorded in five of 18 barangays in the city, including Dila, Market Area, Kaingin, Kanluran and Sinalhan.“We detected the first case in January,” Zapanta told The STAR over the phone yesterday. “Monitoring showed the number of cases has increased, prompting the conduct of immediate house-to-house vaccination of children aged two years and below and pregnant women, particularly in barangays with recorded cases.
