FARMERS cooperatives and associations in La Union received more than P48.7 million worth of assistance in the form of machines, seeds and various farm inputs.The assistance was distributed in Barangay Sapilang in Bacnotan on August 30 and included hand tractors with accessories, rice combine harvesters, four-wheel-drive tractors, pump and engine sets, multi-cultivators, knapsack sprayers, plastic crates, power sprayers, drums and solar-powered irrigation systems.
According to the DA-RFO1, the distribution was conducted in two batches. In the first batch, 20 FCAs and 11 local government units from La Union's second district received interventions worth P27.032 million.In his message, La Union Vice Gov. Mario Ortega, who was joined by Ramsey Mangaoang representing Rep. Dante Garcia, urged farmers to make the most of the assistance given to them.
