Tropical storm Kristine forced the suspension of airport operations and flight cancellations in Bicol and Eastern Visayas on Tuesday, as the nation braced for the worst from what meteorologists said could develop into a super typhoon this week.

As of Tuesday morning, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines provided situational updates on airports and weather conditions across the affected regions.

With the Bicol Region, including Albay , placed under Tropical Storm Signal No. 1, four flights were cancelled at the Bicol International Airport affecting a total of 606 passengers: PR 2925 , PR 2926 , PR 2923 and PR 2924 .Meanwhile, at Masbate Airport, CAAP reported that moderate to heavy rainfall with light to moderate winds have reduced visibility to 1 km. As a result, two commercial flights were canceled, affecting 140 passengers.

CAAP Director General, Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo, reminded all Area Center Managers of the strict enforcement of the ban on light aircraft operations during inclement weather to ensure safety.
