Sault Ste. Marie scores four times in the first 10 minutes
The hometown Soo Thunderbirds scored four times within the opening 10 minutes and went on to trounce the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners 9-0 Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at John Rhodes Community Centre.
The Thunderbirds came right back and tacked on another just over three minutes later when Declan Gallivan beat Gold Miners’ starter Braydon Garnhart with a wrist shot from the top of the slot that went blocker side into the back of the net. Continuing their offensive ways in the middle session, the Thunderbirds tacked on a fifth on the night on a two-on-one where Smith went down the left wing and put a shot on net that was stopped, but Grayson Ebrahim was right there to knock in the rebound to give him points in three straight outings.
