Average price of a single-family dwelling in the Sault has steadily risen over the past six months — reaching $293K in August, just shy of the high-water pandemic price of $303K

It’s also nearing the high-water mark for the price of a single-family home during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was $303,200 in April of last year. “We’re keeping up with that slight increase, but it’s still pretty affordable for most people if they’re moving to northern Ontario,” said Rogers. “We’re holding fairly well with prices, and it’s still fairly affordable for people.”

Statistics Canada released its latest inflation reading last week, which shows the annual rate rose to four per cent in August, up from 3.3 per cent in July.
