A man has been detained in connection with a case in which a security guard was injured by a Molotov cocktail.
South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong said police were alerted to the matter after a 39-year-old security guard lodged a police report on Wednesday .
“The complainant claimed that at around 4.20am, he was on duty with the 25-year-old victim at a warehouse at Taman Perindustrian Air Hitam when two men on a motorcycle threw a bottle containing flammable liquid at the guardhouse. “The victim was sleeping inside at the time and suffered burns on his face and arms,” ACP Cha said in a statement on Thursday .
He said the victim contacted a colleague and was rushed to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah for treatment.“CCTV footage from the warehouse showed that a motorcycle stopped at the front gate and the pillion rider threw four bottles at the guard post,” he said, adding that the suspects fled the scene when the fire began to spread.An investigation paper was opened under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt, he added.
“At around 3pm on Thursday we arrested a 39-year-old suspect to help with investigations,” he said, adding that the suspect did not have a criminal record.“The motive is still under investigation,” he said, urging anyone with information on the case to contact the South Klang police headquarters at 03-33762222.
