KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's anti-party hopping law was gazetted on Thursday (June 15), three weeks after it was passed by the state assembly.

The anti-party hopping Bill was unanimously passed at the Sabah assembly on May 25, with 75 of 79 assemblymen present giving their full backing. This effectively stops party hopping in Sabah, which has seen governments rise and fall due to defections over the last 60 years.

Juil then became a direct member of GRS on May 23, just two days before the anti-party hopping Bill was tabled. For GRS component parties, Parti Bersatu Sabah has seven seats, Sabah STAR , while Sabah Progressive Party and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah have one each.
