DAVAO City Mayor Sebastian Duterte and his youngest sister Veronica filed on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, a petition seeking the intervention of the Supreme Court following the arrest of their father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, and his transport to the Hague in the Netherlands.The Duterte siblings both filed a petition for habeas corpus, a court order that demands the presentation of an imprisoned person to the court and show good cause for their detention.
In his petition, Sebastian noted that the detention and attempted transfer of the Duterte patriarch constituted a grave violation of his fundamental rights under the 1987 Philippine Constitution, the principles of due process, and the sovereign authority of the Philippine judicial system.He urged the SC to prevent any further unlawful attempts for his father’s transfer to the ICC.
