JAPANESE Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Saturday said the cooperation between the Philippines, the United States and Japan is crucial to protect the freedom of navigation in the South China Sea.
In his address before a joint session of Congress, Kishida said multilayered cooperation among allies and like-minded countries is 'crucial' as the international community is now at a 'historic turning point' and the international order that is based on the rule of law 'under serious threat.''The international community is also facing complex and interrelated challenges such as climate change and infectious diseases.
On Friday, he said the 67-year-old bilateral relationships between Japan and the Philippines have reached its 'golden age' and hoped to take it to 'even new heights.'The Prime Minister said he hopes that his visit to the Philippines will be an opportunity to deepen the relationship of trust and confidence with the leadership of President Marcos 'and also give further boost to the future cooperation.
