Will collegiate hotshot Kevin Quiambao play his final year, and lead a season of redemption with De La Salle University? Or make his way to overseas leagues, or perhaps turn pro and become a prized rookie for a lucky team?
Quiambao, who was in tears after the Green Archers dropped a 66-62 loss to the resurgent UP Fighting Maroons in the winner-take-all Game 3 UAAP Finals, chose not to rush things while he recovers from this painful defeat in front of a record crowd at the Big Dome on Sunday, Dec. 15.
The extra versatile forward has done it all and was already a proven winner with two Most Valuable Player plums decorating his long list of credentials. Despite being hardened by all his battles, Quiambao has a soft spot. The setback was just too painful to bear for the young star. “For me, magpapahinga muna ako ngayon,” said Quiambao. “Pahinga muna ako then I don’t know what’s next. Hindi ko alam."He then refused to clarify speculations of him flying to South Korea for a rumored stint in the Korean Basketball League.
“For now, ayoko muna isipin,” Quiambao continued. “Pahinga muna talaga ako kasi eight months akong nagba-basketball. Tuloy-tuloy, straight,” he added.
