KENTVILLE, N.S. — Concerned citizens in Kentville are expressing frustration surrounding a contentious vacant Main Street property and alleged code of conduct violations relating to elected officials.
Kehoe said some of their frustration stems from attending council several times to state that they are not satisfied with council’s approach regarding the former F.W. Robinson property. She said the subject property would sit idle until the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia makes a ruling. Kehoe said her understanding is that this could be well over a year away. The action would end up costing taxpayers thousands of dollars.
In June, a public memo listing some concerns about perceived dysfunction and a lack of transparency from the mayor and council was circulated to citizens of Kentville who receive flyer services. The town has made application for the reconveyance of the former F.W. Robinson property on Main Street under the terms of an agreement for purchase and sale between the town and the respondent, Mike’s Clothing Limited.
The court recently handed down a decision regarding a motion of Mike’s Clothing for an order authorizing discovery subpoenas relating to the matter. The motion was dismissed with costs of $750 payable to the Town of Kentville forthwith.
