Keep Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal - Go
SEN. Christopher Lawrence 'Bong' Go supports the Marcos' administration's stand not to remove the grounded BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea amid China's demand to remove the ship. The senator, in a chance interview on August 11, said he would oppose any 'potential agreement' to withdraw the Sierra Madre from Ayungin.
'The Sierra Madre, the DFA said, serves as 'a permanent station for Philippine military personnel deployed to protect and secure Philippine rights and interests in the West Philippine Sea, particularly in the Ayungin Shoal and its vicinity.'Go echoed the pronouncement of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that there is no deal with China concerning the matter, and if such an agreement exists, he will rescind it.
