Two tragic road accidents in Kota Tinggi, Johor, claimed the lives of a young female kayak athlete and a male motorcyclist.
A female kayak athlete , Nur Hazurah Md Hazahar, aged 21, died in a road accident along Jalan Dato Onn in Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi. The accident occurred at around 4.50pm on Wednesday (Jan 1) when a car driven by a 51-year-old local man attempted a u-turn, colliding with Nur Hazurah's motorcycle. The impact caused serious head injuries, resulting in her death at the scene. Her body was taken to Kota Tinggi hospital for a post-mortem.
In a separate incident, a 21-year-old male motorcyclist died after hitting the back of a car due to heavy traffic along Jalan Kulai-Kota Tinggi. The motorcyclist lost control, entered the opposite lane, and was hit by an oncoming car, sustaining serious head injuries. He died while receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru. Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
