A young Sukma athlete was tragically killed yesterday in a motorcycle accident in Kota Tinggi, Malaysia. The 21-year-old was riding his motorcycle when it collided with a car making a U-turn.
An athlete who represented the state in the Malaysia Games (Sukma) last year died after his motorcycle collided with a Perodua Kenari making a 'U' turn on Jalan Dato' Onn, Bandar Penawar, near here yesterday. The victim, Nur Hazurah Md. Hazahar, 21, was a sailor who was riding a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle and died at the scene of the accident at 4.50 pm.
Kota Tinggi District Police Chief, Superintendent Yusof Othman, in a statement here today, said the accident occurred when the Perodua Kenari driven by a 51-year-old man coming from Bandar Penawar, changed lanes from left to right to make a U-turn. The victim, who was unable to avoid it, collided with the right side of the Perodua Kenari and suffered severe head injuries, dying at the scene, while the Perodua Kenari driver was uninjured. The victim, who was a student at Universiti Selangor (Unisel) in Shah Alam, Selangor, was on his way to a driving class and was understood to be on semester break and staying at his sister's house in Bandar Penawar. The victim's body was taken to Hospital Kota Tinggi for a post-mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - UTUSA
