Karl Eldrew Yulo is hoping to make a name for himself and step out of the giant shadows of his more celebrated brother in Carlos Yulo.
Having almost the same looks and demeanor on the gymnastics floor as the two-time world champion, it was inevitable for 15-year-old Eldrew to be compared to his ‘kuya’ although he is eager to be recognized using his own talents and not just the brother to Carlos.
“Alam kong doon po ako nakilala pero ngayon po, gumagawa na rin po ako ng sarili kong pangalan,” he added. He also instantly became a star with some of his fellow athletes and spectators asking for pictures with him after his flawless performances in the apparatus finals in the high bar, vault, pommel horse and floor exercise.
Knowing that making a name for himself would be easier said than done, Eldrew's focus for now is to further hone his talents and be the best version of himself as he also hopes to win more international competitions just like his big brother.
