MANILA, Philippines — Showing newfound confidence in his game, young Filipino big man Kai Sotto registered a monster double-double effort to lead the Koshigaya Alphas past the Kawasaki Brave Thunders, 100-74 in their 2024-25 Japan B.League collision on Sunday at the Koshigaya City Gymnasium.
The 7-foot-3 Sotto was a tower of strength for the Alphas , finishing with 25 points and a personal best 18 rebounds to lead his team to back-to-back wins against the Brave Thunders .The Alphas , who improved to 6-12 overall, lambasted the Brave Thunders , 101-77 on Saturday. That game saw Sotto compile just six points and six boards in a foul-plagued game that limited him to just 16 minutes of action.
Sotto has been on a tear in his last four games since coming off the second window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers where he led Gilas to victories over New Zealand and Hong Kong in a pair of home games in Manila. The 22-year-old Sotto, who Gilas coach Tim Cone believes should be playing by now in the NBA, has helped the Alphas to three victories in their last four games. That stretch saw the Gilas mainstay average 18.75 points and 11.25 rebounds.
