Jose Bautista will be feted by the franchise, warmly greeted by the thousands in attendance. And for those fans willing to wait in line to get their hands on a unique memento to celebrate his bat flip heard around the baseball world, a bobblehead bat flip will be given away.Admittedly, Bautista didn’t have a say in its design, but he trusted the artistic process that helped encapsulate a moment in time no one will forget.
“I am truly looking forward to this weekend because I’m sharing it with the fans, because it’s a celebration of my career and what I was able to accomplish, mostly with the Toronto Blue Jays, if not entirely or most,’’ added Bautista. Some preliminary plans were discussed to honour Bautista as early as last season. Circumstances didn’t line up, but the timing of this weekend’s celebration seems right.

The Jays declined Bautista’s option after the 2017 season. He spent his final season in the majors, 2018, with Atlanta, the New York Mets and Philadelphia.
