Jose Bautista twice led MLB in homers during his career as a Blue Jay. There was no bigger belt than his famous bat flip in the 2015 ALDS.
With all of the home runs he hit for the Jays, and the handful of playoff runs he helped the team achieve, Bautista, among others, helped revive the Blue Jays during his time in Toronto. “It wasn’t easy. I ended up going to junior college. I wasn’t drafted super high, but I got an opportunity with the Pirates. Throughout the minors, I wasn’t a top prospect, but I kept grinding away. I got Rule 5’ed and that opened the doors in the big leagues.”Article content “I always thought the organization did it in a classy way, the alumni, the historical figures,’’ said Bautista. “Even though it’s one of the younger organizations in MLB, compared to some others, it has a rich history. Just to be part of that will be pretty cool.”
