SEVERAL areas on Samar Island were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal 2 after “Jolina” intensified into a severe tropical storm at 5 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2021.
As of 7 p.m. Monday, “Jolina” was packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 115 km/h, and central pressure of 994 hectoPascals . The storm was forecast to hit land somewhere in Eastern Samar and Northern Samar Monday evening or early Tuesday morning.
