A QUIET start but a rousing finish.That is basically the story of JD Cagulangan's UAAP men's basketball career.The 5-foot-10 Cagulangan started as a seldom-used point guard for La Salle but finished with two championships, a Mythical Team selection, and a Finals MVP with the UP Fighting Maroons.Cagulangan and the Maroons wrested the Season 87 title at the expense of the Green Archers through a Game 3 66-62 Finals win at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday.
'I'm so happy that I ended up with this program,' added Cagulangan, who emerged as the UP hero after ending the school's 36-year title drought with a Game 3, buzzer-beating, championship-clinching trey in Season 84 back in 2022.Cagulangan is eternally grateful to the rest of the Fighting Maroons and the UP community.'They welcomed me with open arms. UP deserved to win this season. I want to thank coach Gold .
