JOHOR BARU: A mosque here has been providing free, freshly cooked food daily throughout Ramadan to help Muslims, especially the less fortunate.
Masjid Al Husna chairman Mohamad Sapar Musir, 62, said they have been providing buka puasa meals since 2021.“But the breaking of fast organised by the committee has been so well received that people from other areas have also been coming to break their fast here.
“We have been getting more than 300 people coming to the mosque to break their fast together everyday. It feels like a kenduri,” he said on Thursday evening. He said the mosque spent about RM4,000, which comes from public donation, to provide food for the congregation. “Alhamdulilah, the donation that we receive is more than enough for us to host the breaking of fast at the mosque,” he said.“We change our menu, which includes noodles, nasi briyani, kuih and cut fruits every day,” he said, adding that cold and hot drinks were part of the meal. The programme, he said, was a way to help the community cope with the rising cost of living.
