JOHOR BARU: The Ramadan month has given a hearing-impaired couple a reason to smile as more people have been frequenting their homemade snacks stall compared to last year.

Yushaneylah Md Yusof, who is also speech-impaired, sells kuih such as tauhu sumbat , roti gulung , onde-onde and spring rolls at a makeshift stall at the Sri Stulang People’s Housing Programme here throughout the fasting month.

Yushaneylah added that she used to provide sewing services at their home at the PPR before selling her own kuih. “I feel a great sense of satisfaction when I see returning customers or when they tell me that my snacks are delicious,” she said in an interview with The Star. “I lost most of my hearing when I was very young due to a high fever. Thankfully, I can still hear minimally and speak softly.

“I am worried about her as things could get hectic when the working crowd returns home and starts frequenting the stall,” he said.
