To a diehard Lennon fan, or even to a knowledgeable Fab Four follower, Parisi’s choice of songs represented significant periods in the musical journey of the de facto ex-chief Beatle and comebacking solo artist before his tragic death in 1980: “Come Together,” “Don’t Let Me Down,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Starting Over,” “Jealous Guy,” “Help,” “Across the Universe,” “In My Life,” “Because,” “Strawberry Fields Forever,” “All You Need is Love,” The Ballad of John and Yoko,” among others.
“This is my real hair,” Parsini whispered to me as he obliged for selfies with everyone after the show. Selfie: the author with Javier Parisi and Serafin Pua Gaa was an indispensable factor as he provided the dreamy sounds in “Strawberry Fields Forever,” and the lilting solo piano bridge which Beatles producer originally played on “In My Life.” “Can anyone guess the title of the Beatles’ second movie?” Parisi asked the audience. By the time the trio onstage played “Starting Over,” I was dancing infront of my friends Pua and Mary Anne Gannaban.
