JAPANESE gaming tycoon Kazuo Okada was arrested by police upon his arrival in Manila on Monday, October 17, 2022, over grave coercion charges.
“I want to show to the Filipino people and the world that I am not afraid. I came back to face this ‘grave coercion’ charge against me and my associates. I have nothing to fear when I know I am standing on the right side of the law,” he added. The charges stemmed from the alleged illegal and violent takeover of the integrated casino resort on May 31.
Okada was ousted by the board due to alleged misuse of millions of dollars worth of funds, but he denied this.
